Find & Define

Convulsing – suffer violent involuntary contraction of the muscles, producing contortion of the body or limbs.

Sympathisers – a person who agrees with or supports a sentiment, opinion, or ideology.

Daubed – carelessly coat or smear (a surface) with a thick or sticky substance.

Phenolphthalein – A white or pale yellow crystalline powder

Laxative –  tending to stimulate or facilitate evacuation of the bowels.

Ignoramus – an ignorant or stupid person.

Billowing – fill with air and swell outwards.

Drab – lacking brightness or interest; drearily dull.

Concession – a thing that is granted, especially in response to demands.

Prestigious – inspiring respect and admiration; having high status.

Use

The captain is a very prestigious leader.

The room was drab.

He was shot at point blank range and his blood billowed.

Jake is ignoramus.

As sarah convulsed, she fell on the ground.

Most of Hitlers army were Nazi sympathisers 

I sneakily poured Phenolphthalein in his cup.

He may prescribe a laxative to ease the congestion.

The government was unwilling to make any further concessions.

    Hello Moniem,
    This is a good vocabulary collection. I do like the word ‘ignoramus’, it has a very satisfying sound; I think it’s the four syllables and the contrast between the g and S sounds.

    Did these words all come from your own reading book?
